The Number One Lesson for Writers…

  1. Wow. Just wow. This was so unbelievably true to ao many things. I needed to hear this and read this and address the proof of this. The truth of it. Thank you for sharing it. Especially go an aspiring writer like myself who is still deciding on that “room”. Amazing. Purly amazing. Thank you.

  2. The best essay I’ve ever read on what a writer does. It’s so true, it makes me ache deep inside. Thanks so much for sharing this. It should be mandatory reading for all aspiring authors.

  3. Thanks for sharing this. Wow…

  4. Kaye Spencer says:

This article is certainly my reality. I am a writer. I have a *room* (which happens to be anywhere I plant myself to write). I love and hate that room simultaneously. All. The. Time. But I write anyway. Rainer Maria Rilke said about being a writer: “What is needed is, in the end, simply this: solitude, great inner solitude. Going into yourself and meeting no one for hours on end–that is what you must be able to attain.”

  5. Debra Elise says:

Jennifer, thank you for securing the reprint rights. I plan on reading this again, and again.

  6. Wow was the first word I said too. Yes, I spend a lot of time alone in a room, daily. It’s nice to know that I started my journey correctly.

This article is very insightful. Much more helpful than the usual, just write.

    Thank you for sharing.
