Pull up a chair and let me tell you a story.
Once upon a time, there was a rabbit named Buffy.
One afternoon, I was driving my mini van and had 5 children crammed in. The troops were getting restless, awaiting their destination, so my twelve year old niece decided to tell them a story. Something silly. Something fun. Something that would make them laugh with no lesson attached or special meaning or anything deeper than the simplest form of entertainment.
Buffy and the Carrot was thus born.
The story made us laugh out loud. And so an idea germinated. I decided the story was good enough to get published. I sat down with my niece, and we created a version for a book. My best friend’s husband did the illustrations for us. And I shopped the book around but found the children’s market pretty tight without a good agent.
So I decided to pitch to Strategic and we signed a contract to bring Buffy to life.
The journey has been exciting and a learning experience. Being involved in a step by step process from editing, to cover, to back blurbs taught my niece and I a lot. Many times in my correspondence, she told me it was an exhausting process and she had no idea so much was involved. She thought she would just write the book and we would sell it.
Just like I believed when I was twelve and wrote my first book.
I am very proud to use this blog to reach everyone out there and let them know that Buffy and the Carrot has arrived.
To kick off this exciting event, we are holding an Amazon book launch on MONDAY, JANUARY 17TH. We are asking everyone to take a few moments and log on to Amazon that day and buy the book and drop a comment.
